Yes! Especially since many of them do not know how to navigate homelessness and probably already have health issues. I did know that many were experiencing food insecurity especially in places like California.
California is the only state where an individual can apply for and receive public assistance without an address or proof of identity. In all states, the federal government matches the state government’s funding of public assistance programs. The question isn’t whether the unhoused or aged individuals have food insecurities, mental health challenges or other medical concerns, the question begs: where is the money being allocated? Also most senior citizens are food insecure because we all age into illness or disabilities, Medicare, just like Medicaid and health insurance does not pay for all medical services received. It’s infuriating!!!
In San Francisco (which gets cold every night, just not snowy) it’s estimated that there are 2million unhoused individuals living on the street at any point in time - that’s as many residents of some mid-western cities. It’s a lot to think about…. You’re welcome, and Merry Christmas!
DAMN. That is crazy. Crazy. And not enough people talking about it. Thank YOU for doing so...and a Merry Christmas to you ;)...in college (journalism major) I wrote an article about a specific homeless shelter and interviewed many of the residents or passer through- many vets, many addicts, many with unaddressed mental and physical challenges. Sad. U.S. government a joke then, now, always
It’s a damn shame, and it’s also a low estimation especially if you consider that the city itself consists of 7 square miles. Admittedly, I was less conscious of the statistics and the facts (the government paints the picture that the unhoused are drug addicts, some but definitively not all, not even 10%), my kid made me aware while he was in grad school. He is of the opinion that the government isn’t doing shit to address or correct the issue.
Even if they are, God doesn’t make junk. And it isn’t addicts, it’s veterans, the elderly, and children. It’s infuriating, it literally is a damn shame!
Thanks for the reminder, blessings to you, Dondi.
More blessings to you, Manuel
Thank you for presenting the facts. There is much work to be done in this country as it relates to helping the homeless and marginalized groups.
You’re welcome and I agree!
That’s awful

Yes, it is! Where does the money ever go? It’s definitely not to the people!
Merry Christmas!!!

Yes, I would agree with your son...Yes, paint them as addicts. Convince the public that they get what they deserve
