Serendipitous Alternative Endeavor
Pivoting with purpose
Hi Friends:
Because writer’s block isn’t contingent on circumstance, this issue includes:
A sip…
The muse contends that slow actualization is an engineered Attack of Opportunity….
“When I dare to be powerful, to use my strength in the service of my vision, then it becomes less and less important whether I am afraid.” – Audre Lorde
A shout out…
To you, Dearest Reader:
After 2.5 incredible years of sharing content with you, an opportunity arose.
This is not an easy choice, but I am pivoting. With a joyful heart, I am starting a new venture that prevents me from continuing weekly publications. Beginning January 1, 2026, A Sip, A Shout Out & A Sentence will switch from paid to free. All the past (and paid) content will become openly accessible.
If you are a monthly subscriber, you will no longer be charged. If you are an annual subscriber, Substack will automatically issue a prorated refund for the unused portion of your subscription.
As I have always affirmed, my Substack exists because Zora Neale Hurston strongly suggested that a woman should have the nerve to walk her own way, however hard, in search of her reality, rather than climb upon the rattling wagon of wishful illusion. With that, I am not walking away; I am continuing my walk, my own way.
I must say, the way I’ve consistently earned your loyalty constantly motivates me. Your enthusiasm for A Sip, A Shout Out & A Sentence energizes me, and I am eternally grateful. I am also incredibly proud of the work I accomplished, and of the vibrant community we built while exploring cocktails, recipes, travel routes, and the lives and legacies of authors.
Still, it is time to evolve; I am not abandoning A Sip, A Shout Out & A Sentence. Rather, I am taking time to move beyond profiling others’ work to focus my efforts on larger creative endeavors.
Honestly, this has been a productive wild ride. Consistently connecting with like-minded people, such as yourselves, is the reason an opportunity arose. And for that, I am, again, eternally grateful!
In a sentence… Stay creative, take it easy, and thanks for rockin’ with me,

I was missing you from my timeline so came here and saw this. I admire the pivot ✊🏾
Happy New Year to you!
